I watched with pride today, Johnson Beharry VC standing at the Cenotaph and realised that there are so few VC holders alive. In my opinion there should be more VC awards made. To see a real (and young) person wearing a VC is a great source of pride to us all. The more there are, the more people will recognise what that particular medal means and how it was earned. They could visit schools and promote service to this country. Many people are unhappy with this country but the events of Sunday and today show that there is still a massive support for our forces from the public at large. I would like to see more VC's awarded and worn in public. Don't select just a few and make them the object of many peoples curiosity. Celebrate these men's bravery! We see footballers and their like adored by millions, lets have some real heroes to adore!

While I understand the sentiment - I, too am extremely proud of these people - I hope that the award remains as rare as it is because of the extraordinary nature of what it represents. No huge shiny star-spangled bauble, but a plain understated dull bronze symbol of something really momentous.
