Article on Arthur Procter VC states he was the ‘first British soldier to be decorated with the Victoria Cross on the battlefield’. The King in visits to the Western Front in 1914 and 1915 presented eight VCs. Procter was the ninth and only recipient decorated in the 1916 visit.
