Looking at available information on Lieutenant Wright's place & date of action I've curious about two points of confusion:
First, the date of the action - originally announced as 24 March, but subsequently corrected to 26 February in a later Gazette announcement. Most reference books I've seen use the later date, but the most recent work on the subject (the 3-volume history) uses the original one. Sometimes an announcement gets it right originally and then makes an erroneous correction - this happened once or twice in the early years, I think - and as the latest book features some corrected dates that no other books have shown I wondered if that wasn't the case this time too. On the other hand, the new book's researchers may have just forgotten to include that correction.
Second, the location of the action. This is something that is always described as simply 'Northern Nigeria' in every reference I've ever seen, so perhaps it was simply in an area without any settlements nearby that could be used to narrow down the location. Even so, most citations (if not subsequent books with more up-to-date info) are usually able to provide slightly more detailed information even if the action took place in a barren area. Is there any information available that is more specific about the location, or has it just become lost over time (if indeed it was ever recorded in the first place)?

Well done raising two important issues.
Thanks for noting the missed correction for Wright. Please let the VC and GC Assn know this and any other correction since they are collecting errata. The big oversight in the Methuen volumes when it comes to citations is the March 1919 gazette that included hundreds of date, place and unit details for awards gazetted between 1916 and 11 November 1918.
In regards to the location of the action this is an opportunity for research. Sources outside of the TNA that may be available are contemporary newspaper accounts and autobiographies of officers and men who served on the expedition.

What would be the proper way to report the error - notify the bookseller perhaps (sales@methuen.co.uk)? I should probably also mention the lack of correction for Lt. Cairns as well, which we discussed some time ago.
As for the 1919 updates, it seems that the books' method was to feature the citations as they originally were printed in the Gazette, and to point out any errors/corrections elsewhere in the men's entries. I think that all of the place/date/unit info that the 1919 gazette provided is mentioned in the Methuen volume, but in this fashion rather than being featured in the quoted citations.
