Les, My first post and its going to be controversial.
On your VC facts page you have said that the twelve VCs awarded on 25th April 1915 at Gallipoli are known as ( The twelve before breakfast ) . There are in fact only six of them who are known as ( The six before breakfast ). The reason being that,
Cuthbert Bromley John Grimshaw William Kenally Alfred Richards Frank Stubbs Richard Willis All Lancashire Fusiliers and all elected by the Regiment
They were landed at W beach, with only two of the twenty four boats in the first wave reaching shore and despite losing eleven officers and three hundred and fifty men they had secured the beach before 0800. ( Before Breakfast ) Of the othersix VCs that day
George Drewry Wilfred Malleson George Samson Arthur Tidsall Edward Unwin William Williames All Royal Naval VCs
They were awarded at V beach where by 0900 only three hundred of the seven hundred Royal Dublin Fusiliers had landed and reached a bank ten yards inland. Five of these Vcs were for rescuing wounded men and bringing them back to the River Clyde troopship throughout the day and in the case of Arthur Tisdall "only darkness prevented him from continuing." ( A long time after breakfast ).
Regards Robert Henry

I love controversial............. Well noticed!! I must admit when piecing the pages together, I remembered making a few cock-ups and found most of them, but that was one I'd missed! Your thread is very interesting and hopefully a few other members will be able to learn something new too

Les, Here I go picking holes again On your VC facts page you have J T Cornwall as one of the youngest recipients but you have the correct recipients on your "unusual" VCs page. Also on the VCs page you have seven VCs at Gallipoli on 7/8 Aug 1915 and I believe it should be 7/9th for
Leonard Keysor 7th Aug Lone Pine William Symons 8/9th Aug Lone Pine Alexander Burton 9th Aug Lone Pine William Durston 9th Aug Lone Pine John Hamilton 9th Aug Lone Pine Alfred Shout 9th Aug Lone Pine Fredrick Tubb 9th Aug Lone Pine
All Australians

Well spotted. I've checked my notes (and they're all hand scribbled) and I got a couple of notes mixed up - thus Cornwell being where he shouldn't. I agree, the 7-9th Aug is right - it was a simple typo. It's still early days with the facts pages, so if you see any more, let me know.... I'd hate to have duff info that others might rely on
