Hello Gents,
I see that the Canadian War Museum has pretty well run out of time in order to keep the Currie VC in Canada.
When it sold at auction in September 2017, the successful bidder was a British collector. The Canadian government stepped in and gave Canadians (and the War Museum) six months to match the Brit bidder. Since last September, the Museum acquired the Strachan VC in November, followed by a successful bid by them for the Barron VC on December 5th. With the subsequent action by the CWM since Currie's VC sale, I can't see how they could possibly come up with the funds to keep Currie's VC in Canada.
As an aside, David Currie later took up the hobby of medal mounting, and did a few framed VC copy groups. I wonder if he did any original groups as well?
Cheers,
Bill in Canada

Great question as to whether David Currie framed any original groups. Anthony

Hi Anthony,
I know of a Canadian collector who has at least two framed medal VC groups of well-known recipients.
Are there any collectors out there who have a group mounted and framed by David Currie?
Cheers,
Bill
