Ian Fraser died on Monday (I've just heard!!!). Here's the write up in yesterdays Daily Telegraph.

In memory of Private Henry George BLATCHFORD, 40730, 6th Btn KOYLI. KIA 22/8/1917 age 40. Born in Somerset, lived in Bristol, Died in Belgium.

Also in memory of Stoker 1 Class, Alfred George COOLE, 148601 RN served 1889-1911 & 1914-1915. Died at home 28th August 1915.

Private Walter COOLE, 5203, 1/6th Btn Gloucestershire Reg. Died of disease 10th January 1917 on the Somme. Nephew of Alfred.

A well written obituary but it does not mention that Fraser was the last surviving Royal Navy recipient. There are now just nine living recipients - four British Army (including one Gurkha), two Australian Army, two Indian Army (both Gurkhas) and one RAF.
